US Marine Corps Systems Command has placed a $338.7m order with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada for 600 RG-31 Category II vehicles for its Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program


US Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) has placed a $338.7m order with General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada for 600 RG-31 Category II vehicles for its Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program.



Lansing-based Demmer, Michigan, and BAE OMC in Benoni, South Africa will manufacture the 600 RG-31s. The Category II vehicle is based on an extended version of the RG-31 Mk5.



According to General Dynamics, the vehicles have been highly effective against mines, improvised explosive devices and ballistic threats in Iraq and Afghanistan.



The delivery is scheduled for completion in March 2008.
