Balfour Beatty bid accepted for schools scheme

Hartlepool Borough Council has chosen Balfour Beatty, an infrastructure-services company, as the preferred bidder for the £95m ’Building Schools for the Future’ investment programme.

Under the contract, the team, which includes consultants from Leeds-based WYG, will provide civil, structural, mechanical and electrical BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), and sustainability design services on the project.

The project involves six secondary schools in Hartlepool and will comprise a mix of new builds and refurbishments.

Construction of the initial sample school, Dyke House Sports and Technology College, will start this summer, with the phased delivery of all the schools to be completed over the next five years.
