Boeing and Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) have completed a sales agreement for 20 Boeing Next-Generation 737s, plus purchase rights for 20 additional aircraft.
The agreement, valued at $1.1 billion at list prices, represents SALE 's first direct order of 737s from Boeing. Deliveries are to begin in late 2006 and extend through to 2009.
The 737-800 is the baseline model SALE has specified, although the agreement provides for conversions to the 737-700 or the proposed higher-capacity 737-900X. The Next-Generation 737 family is powered by CFM56-7B turbofans from CFM International.
Boeing has so far received nearly 2,600 orders for the Next-Generation 737 family of aircraft, with a backlog of more than 850 aircraft.
