Boeing to install Goodrich cargo door cameras

Boeing has awarded Goodrich a contract to provide video monitoring systems for the cargo doors on its new 777 Freighter.

Designed to monitor the area around the main cargo door, Goodrich claims the system will help to prevent damage to an aircraft and improve safety by allowing operators to check for people or equipment obstructions before opening and closing the door.

‘By preventing damage to an aircraft, our video monitoring system will save cargo operators time and money,’ said Jan Mathiesen, vice-president of Goodrich Sensors and Integrated Systems.

Goodrich will provide a system of three cameras around the cargo door, and an operator display and control panel in the flight deck crew rest area. It plans to make the systems available to Boeing by early 2008.
