The US Air Force has awarded Boeing a $2bn contract to manufacture 242 wing sets and provide engineering services for its A-10 fleet.
Boeing is contracted to deliver replacement wing sets in parts and kits for easy installation on the aircraft, which it says will allow the A-10 fleet to fly for at least 20 more years.
The agreement covers services to be offered between now and 2018.
The A-10 is a twin-engine jet aircraft designed to provide close-air support for ground forces.
