A support network which provides services to help medical technology companies in the east of England could help boost the industry further following new investment and a takeover.
Medilink East, supported by the RDA the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), has been providing a range of services and support to companies in the medical technology (medtech) sector since 1998. With further support from EEDA, the service is being taken over by ERBI, the East of England’s biotechnology network, which plans to improve and expand the services currently on offer.
ERBI won a competitive tender to take over the Medilink East network and has received funding from EEDA to provide the new improved service. The network’s existing 100 members have been transferred to the new ERBI Medilink network and will get the same level of support enjoyed by ERBI’s biotech members.
The new network will build on the growing convergence of the biotech and medical device communities. ERBI Medilink’s will support local businesses seeking opportunities to exploit the next generation of medical devices, as well as attracting global operators into the growing cluster of innovative medtech businesses in the region.
