Bruker acquires California based firm Center for Tribology

Bruker, a provider of scientific instruments, has closed its acquisition of Center for Tribology (CETR) for $13m (£8.2m) in cash as an initial purchase price, with potential additional earn-out payments of up to $4m in cash, depending on the growth and profitability of the CETR-business within Bruker in 2012 and 2013.

CETR, a privately held tribology and mechanical testing company headquartered in Campbell, California, with 30 employees, has now become a part of the Bruker Nano Surfaces division, joining the current AFM (atomic force microscope) and SOM (stylus and optical metrology) businesses.
