CAE to supply simulators to FAA and Lufthansa

CAE has been awarded C$35 million to provide flight simulators for the US Federal Aviation Administration and Lufthansa Flight Training.

CAE has been awarded a contract for a Boeing B737-800 full flight simulator (FFS), including CAE Tropos visual system, by the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Lufthansa Flight Training also selected CAE for the provision of an enhanced version of an Airbus A330-300 FFS.

The contracts are valued at approximately C$35 million, based on list prices. These orders bring to 10 the number of full flight simulators sold by CAE in fiscal year 2003.

The new B737-800 simulator will become operational in June 2004 at the FAA’s Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and will replace the FAA’s current CAE B727-200 simulator, purchased from CAE in 1982.

Scheduled to be operational in July 2004, the Airbus A330-300 FFS is Lufthansa’s 22nd order of a full flight simulator from CAE since 1980, and will join six other CAE-built Airbus simulators in its training facility at Rhine-Main airport near Frankfurt.
