Carillion wins £38 million barracks contract

Carillion has won a £38 million design and build project for the refurbishment of the existing Glencorse Barracks at Penicuik, Scotland.

Business and construction services company Carillion has won one of the largest projects currently being procured by the British Army, a £38m design and build project for the refurbishment of the existing Glencorse Barracks at Penicuik, Scotland.

The project comprises a major redevelopment of both Glencorse Barracks, the adjacent Milton Bridge (South) Camp, and the existing Medical Reception Station at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh to provide accommodation for a light scaled Infantry Battalion.

The refurbishment will see the Glencorse site having new administration facilities, storage and maintenance buildings, and welfare facilities. The existing accommodation blocks also located on the site will be demolished to make way for five new Junior Ranks Accommodation Blocks to accommodate 360 personnel.

New mess facilities and living quarters will be provided for Senior NCOs and the existing Officer’s Mess will be refurbished to create bedroom and living accommodation. The adjacent Milton Bridge (South) Camp will be primarily concerned with providing the parking, garaging and repair facilities for the military vehicles.
