Centrax awarded Brazilian contract

Devon-based Centrax Gas Turbines recently signed a contract to supply Brazilian EPC contractor Mauá Jurong with three 5.3MW CX501-KB7 dual fuel generators for an offshore platform.



The three Rolls-Royce powered packages will include CACW cooled, 60Hz, 4160V generators manufactured by WEG in Brazil. Once installed, the units will work in pairs with the third unit being held as stand-by and ready to come on-line as required.



According to Centrax, the packages will provide heat and power on the fixed Mexilhão offshore platform to be located in the SantosBasin in 172m of water and approximately 145km offshore between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.



The platform will be operated by Petrobras, the Brazilian state-owned oil and gas company and will produce up to 15 million cubic metres of natural gas per day to shore to the Mexilhão Receiving Station in Caraguatatuba, São PauloState.
