Cobham contract

Cobham’s Defence Electronic Systems Division has received a five-year award for digital vehicular intercom systems for the US Army and an antenna development contract for the US Navy.

The digital vehicular intercom systems award from Northrop Grumman is on an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) basis for the ongoing delivery of the AN/VIC-3 system to the US Army. The system provides enhanced communication and situational awareness to users of armoured and light vehicles.

The VHF and UHF antennas development contract awarded by the US Space and NavalWarfareSystemsCenter, is worth $11m, and is anticipated to be completed by September 2009.

Allan Cook, Cobham Chief Executive said: ‘Our digital intercom systems continue to provide essential situational awareness capabilities to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are being fitted to an increasing number of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.’
