Modular welds three new alliances

Modular Welding has announced news of ‘strategic partnerships’ with three leading robotic and welding suppliers as part of a planned growth programme. The company has entered into agreements with Panasonic Robotics, Rofin-Sinar Lasers and Thermadyne Industries to expand its ability to provide turnkey solutions involving dedicated or robotic assembly, pick and place, and welding applications.

R&D investment increased

Announcing its preliminary results for the year to 30 June 1998, Ricardo says pre-tax profits were £8m on a turnover of £82.4m. The scale of the company’s investment in research and development activities was increased to £4.5m a commitment considered vital for the long-term future, and in maintaining its leadership in the fields of combustion, emissions and transmissions.

Tufnol acquires Countrose business

Tufnol has bought bearing manufacturer Countrose Engineering for an undisclosed sum. Countrose has made significant investment over the last few years on diversifying its range of precision elastomeric bearings, and expanded from its traditional base in the marine sector into pumps and other industrial markets. The acquisition complements Tufnol’s range of materials, and strengthens its position in the non-metallic bearings market.

Crouzet moves into new premises

Crouzet has moved into new premises in Basingstoke. The company says its new building will provide many new facilities to help it develop its service to customers in the coming years. Immediate service improvements will include faster deliveries.
