Composites beat noise, vibration and heat

Noise, vibration and heat are common problems for automotive, appliance, aircraft and office equipment, as well as for many OEM designs. MSC says it has addressed these problems with a range of constrained layer composites.

Typical of the range is Quiet Steel – a damping material comprising metal skins of steel, stainless, aluminium, galvalume or other substrate and a viscoelastic polymer core. MSC says it is ideal for many noise damping applications.

Where thermal or acoustic containment is required, MSC offers Thermalcore. Here, metal skins cover a layer of aluminium foil, graphite, e-glass or adhesive film.
