ABB has been awarded a contract by Swedish utility Eskilstuna Energi & Miljo to supply equipment for a biomass-fuelled CHP plant. The plant will feature the world’s first commercial application of Powerformer ABB’s electrical machine that combines the functions of a generator and a transformer. The value of the ABB contract is around US$10.
Daimler-Benz signs CADSI contract
CADSI has announced that Daimler-Benz has signed a corporate contract to implement DADS, CATDADS and PolyFEM within the vehicle division. The contract is applicable to all Daimler-Benz divisions requiring mechanical system simulation software for full vehicle simulation with flexible components.
Rolls-Royce engines will power BA’s 777s
British Airways has chosen Rolls-Royce Trent 895 engines to power its fleet of twin engined Boeing 777s. The airline has ordered 16 firm and 16 option aircraft, the first of which is to be delivered in 2000. The engine order is worth up to £580 million to Rolls-Royce.
Norgren wins Opel Corsa contract
A prestigious single source agreement to supply Opel in Germany has been won by Norgren. Worth up to DM 4 million, the contract is to supply Opel with pneumatic equipment to for the 4300 new Corsa project. Norgren will supply cylinders, valves, air preparation equipment, fittings and tubing.
Valves get into print
A £10,000 order has been placed with Valvestock for ISO top ball valves. The valves have spring return pneumatic actuators to control the ink flow on printing machines at a regional newspaper.
