£10m Indian order boost

Strachan & Henshaw has strengthened its presence in the overseas market by winning a £10 million contract. The order won as part of a joint venture with one of India’s largest engineering companies, Larsen & Toubro is for two pairs of stackers and bucketwheel reclaimers. The machines will be installed in the new export terminal at Paradip Port and form an integral part of the supply chain to transport coal from northern to southern India.

Advanced protection for oil refinery

Vital instrumentation and process control equipment at Texaco’s oil refinery in Pembroke, South Wales, is to benefit from a £3.8 million upgrade, employing Masterguard uninterruptible power supply systems from Siemens. Seven processing areas at the site will each use the Masterguard UPS systems for ensuring continuous power to monitoring, control and shutdown instrumentation of the plant. Siemens is the prime contractor, supplying the UPS systems and is responsible for project management of the manufacture, assembly and testing of the seven housings.

Satellite testing for Lockheed Martin

Racal Instruments has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin to develop and supply test systems for the ACeS (Asia Cellular Satellite). Racal will supply its 6114 test systems, tailored to Lockheed Martin specifications, developed from Racal’s standard GSM digital radio base station testers. Racal’s commercial satellite test technology will be used to support Lockheed Martin in the development, manufacture and test of ground segment base stations for the ACeS system which is based on GSM specifications. ACeS is a geosynchronous satellite system developed to provide mobile communications throughout the Asian region
