Danaher Motion, the specialist in drive and control technology, has expanded its Servostar range with the S700 digital servo amplifier which not only has a performance range up to 24A but features an Ethernet interface and a slot for a safety expansion card.

With the onboard Ethernet connection, Danaher Motion has equipped the latest digital drive for future applications as a growing number of users adopt Ethernet-based communication via systems such as EtherCAT, SynqNet or Profinet. As no additional, expensive expansion card is required only the appropriate software is needed.

The S700 is supplied with an additional slot for a safety expansion card to support functions such as safely reducing speed and stopping operations. This, too, should ensure up-grading as increasing demands for higher productivity require operatives to safely work on machinery when the motor is live (e.g. when a load needs to be retained or the machine has to continue to run slowly).

Two other slots provided (in addition to the safety slot) are intended for use with the familiar S300 expansion cards as well as custom expansion cards requiring a large bus size. Thus, all common fieldbus connections are supported, including SERCOS, Profibus DP, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, DiasBus, FireWire, LightBus, and ModBus Plus. Furthermore, the S700 can evaluate all common types of feedback (e.g. resolvers, ComCoders, incremental encoders, as well as high-resolution single- or multi-turn sine-cosine encoders) via BISS, EnDat or HIPERFACE.

The new hybrid digital drive also features numerous ready-to-use I/O and position-control functions and it can be completely programmed via an RS232 interface using a PC running WINDOWS 2000/XP or two keys located directly on the amplifier. In addition, the S700 has a built-in LED status display and a standard restart lock.

Another new feature is the optional MMC memory card, which enables parameter records and firmware to be backed up and copied extremely quickly and easily in the field.

Based on the same architecture and equipped with the same processor as the Servostar S300, the compatible S700 also offers the familiar, easy-to-use startup software.

The new Danaher Motion drive, with integral line filter and direct shield connections, fits into 300mm switchgear cabinets and has a line filter all shield connections directly to the amplifier while DC links to support parallel connection.

With its extensive functionality, excellent communication capabilities and comprehensive customization abilities, this new, easy to use drive is ideal for all types of complex drive tasks.
