United Defense Industries, Inc has received a $49.4 million contract from the US Army’s Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) to remanufacture 33 Bradley A2 Operation Desert Storm (ODS) vehicles and provide additional upgrade kits for field modifications.
This contract calls for the remanufacture of 20 Bradley M2A2 ODS infantry vehicles and 13 Bradley M3A2 ODS cavalry vehicles from older Bradley systems.
The contract also calls for field modification kits to upgrade additional Bradley vehicles from the base A2 configuration to the ODS platform.
Vehicle deliveries begin in March 2004 and will continue through May 2004, and kit deliveries will be in December 2003.
The Bradley A2 ODS is said to incorporate enhancements identified following Operation Desert Storm, including an eye-safe laser rangefinder, global positioning and navigation systems, battlefield combat identification, driver’s vision enhancer and missile countermeasures.
