This is the design that unanimously won over the judges of the Jaguar Design Project, sponsored by Jaguar Cars and British Steel Strip. The winner, Martin Kopp, a student at The Royal College of Art, based his design on the Mark III proportions. The design’s strong appearance, recognising classical heritage with a strong feline frontal graphic featuring predatory eyes, ready to spring into motion, appealed to the judges. Keith Heflet, principal stylist at Jaguar said, ‘The Mark III seemed to be one design that pulled together most of Jaguar’s marque values.’ He felt that Martin’s competition entry was an excellent and extremely credible Jaguar design.
