Detecting the date

Omron’s F210 CF date verification vision sensor monitors printed date or lot codes for readability so that packages with unreadable, incomplete or missing codes can be rejected.

At the same time, it alerts system operators to the defects so that corrections can be made on the production line before large numbers of products are affected.

Systems developed using the vision sensor are smart enough to automatically update date codes each day without operator intervention, as well as recognise various date formats, including “manufactured on…” and “best before…” configurations.

The device can be setup through a hand-held keypad rather than a PC, while extensive internal character libraries in the device eliminate the need to ‘teach’ it to learn specific characters.

Available from stock at a price of $6,000, the F210 CF vision sensor is suitable for use in food and beverage packaging operations, where clear and accurate date codes are essential.
