DLR places £50 million rail order

Bombardier Transportation announced yesterday that it has received an additional order from Docklands Light Railway in London, for the design and build of 31 automatically guided light rail cars.

The contract has a value of approximately £50 million and the new vehicles are scheduled to be delivered between July 2008 and October 2009.

This further order is in addition to the £50 million contract awarded to Bombardier by Docklands Light Railway and announced in May 2005, for the design and build of 24 automatically guided light rail cars. The new order for 31 light rail cars includes the option for nine cars announced in the 2005 contract.

The light rail cars will be of the same design as those ordered in May 2005 and will be manufactured at Bombardier’s Bautzen

plant located in Germany, with electrical equipment being supplied by our facility in Mannheim and the bogies being produced at our site in Siegen, Germany.
