Eastern promise for Boeing

Xiamen Airlines, the China-based carrier, has ordered 25 Next-Generation 737-800s worth $1.9bn from Boeing.

‘This order of 25 737-800s plus 10 purchase rights allows us to simplify our fleet with the most cost-efficient and superior-performance airplane in its class,’ said Yang Guanghua, president of Xiamen Airlines.

Boeing has also delivered the first 737-800 aircraft of 10 ordered in 2005 to Xiamen.

According to Boeing, the 737-800 is the most popular aircraft in the Next-Generation 737 family, with more than 2,200 aircraft ordered.
