EDF Energy Networks is investing £6m to on two separate projects beginning in August to improve the electricity network in Peterborough and reinforce power supplies to the area.
The first £3m project involves the installation of more than 2000m of underground cable in the Oundle Road area to accommodate for the predicted increase in demand for service as the city develops. It is scheduled to take 10 months.
Once this stage of work has been completed, EDF will install new electrical equipment in the substation.
Director of Capital Programme Barry Hatton said: ‘It’s fantastic news for Peterborough that EDF Energy is making such a major investment in the electricity network over the coming months.
‘These works will reinforce the network to support future growth in the city for years to come.’
