This award will recognise companies from the region that have demonstrated a commitment to the community through initiatives such as staff volunteering or providing community access to facilities. The category is targeted toward companies that can demonstrate their involvement in projects which benefit the local community.
The category is one of eight comprising the awards, which are managed by RDA South East England Development Agency (SEEDA). The South East Business Awards focus on enhancing working practices by providing opportunities for short listed companies to meet with successful industry leaders to exchange ideas.
Hilary Walkman from EDF’s PR and sponsorship team said: ‘The South East is a leading region for business commitment to the workforce and community. It is important to encourage its growth. We feel that sponsoring the Sustainable Business – Workplace and Community Award is a great opportunity to share our expertise with other companies in the region and to celebrate the South East’s exceptional talent and success.’
South East Business Awards Chair Jeff Alexander said: ‘EDF Energy is an exemplar in the field of workforce and community relations and I am pleased that they are lending their support to these. Their experience is invaluable and will prove greatly beneficial to the participating companies in this category.’
Entries for the South East Business Awards are now being accepted, with a deadline for applications of 14 November. Winners of the South East Business Awards will be announced on 6 March 2008 at a ceremony at Ascot Racecourse.
