EDS wins $2 billion US business

Global services company, EDS, rounded off 2000 with $2 billion worth of contract announcements including major IT deals with Dow Chemical, Weyerhaeuser and BellSouth.

The company signed a seven-year contract with Dow Chemical, valued at approximately $200 million per year, to ‘revolutionise the company’s existing global communications infrastructure’.

EDS also announced seven year contacts with Weyerhaeuser for the outsourcing of IT infrastructure services and with BellSouth for the consolidation of the company’s data centre operations.

There is also a five-year $97 million outsourcing contract with Panamerican Beverages to manage its information technology infrastructure throughout Latin America.

EDS provides strategy, implementation and hosting for clients managing the complexities of the digital economy. The company reported revenues of $18.5 billion in 1999 and has listings on the New York and London stock exchanges.
