Eight million Euros buys a very big tank

Hungary’s biggest chemical company, Tiszai Vegyi Kombinat, has awarded Uhde an eight million Euros contract for the engineering and construction of a new ethylene storage tank facility.

Hungary’s biggest chemical company, Tiszai Vegyi Kombinat RT has awarded Uhde GmbH a contract for the engineering and construction of a new ethylene storage tank facility.

The contract for the 6,000 tonne capacity tank is said to include the supply of equipment, technical support during the construction work, training of the operating personnel and assistance during commissioning.

Uhde – a company in the ThyssenKrupp Technologies segment of the ThyssenKrupp Group – will be employing the ‘full containment tank’ concept.

This tank type has two walls and is designed to prevent gas escaping into the atmosphere in the case of a leak in the cup (inner tank) through containment of the ethylene in the outer tank.

The contract is worth approximately 8 million Euros. Completion of the plant is scheduled for the third quarter of 2004.
