Chelmsford-based
e2v technologieshas announced an £11m contract renewal to supply
Varian Medical Systemsin
with electron devices.
The devices will be incorporated into linear accelerators for use in radiotherapy cancer treatment and cargo-screening systems.
The two-year contract is said to be the first of a number of anticipated multi-year contract renewals for electron devices used in linear accelerators.
e2v's products generate and deliver the microwave power required from the linear accelerator to produce X-rays used in the imaging and radiation treatment of tumours, as well as the imaging systems within cargo-screening equipment.
Keith Attwood, chief executive of e2v, said: ‘This multi-year contract renewal with Varian is a demonstration of the strong and close relationships we build with our strategic partners.’
