Engine overhaul

Rolls-Royce has been awarded two contracts worth a total of £105m to provide engine overhaul services for Thomas Cook Airlines and First Choice Airways.

The company will provide complete engine overhaul for the RB211-535 engines that power 18 Thomas Cook Airlines Boeing 757 aircraft and 12 First Choice Airways 757s.

The work will be carried out at the Rolls-Royce Aero Repair and Overhaul (AR&O) facility in Derby, UK.

Martin Whittaker, Head of Commercial and Leasing at First Choice Airways, commented: ‘Engine overhaul is a significant cost driver to our business therefore it is important to ensure we have a competitive commercial agreement whilst ensuring we use a quality provider.’

According to Rolls-Royce, there are more than 1,300 RB211-535s in service with over 80 operators and have accumulated over 40 million hours of operation.
