AMEC has secured a two-year engineering and project management services (EPMS) contract with BP Sharjah for its onshore gas facilities in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The contract includes two one-year extension options and will see AMEC provide engineering studies, front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, project management and construction management for a range of BP assets including the Kahaif, Moveyid and Sajaa gas fields and the Sajaa gas plant.

Tony Cruddas, president of AMEC's Natural Resources Growth Regions business, said: ‘I am delighted with the award of this contract, which builds on the excellent working relationship between AMEC and BP and provides a strong commitment from both companies to work together to support the business objectives of the BP Sharjah operation.'

He added: 'It also strengthens our capability in the Middle East and North Africa through the continued development of our engineering and project management services in the region.’

Work will begin immediately and follows earlier project management deals between the two companies. The value of the contract has not been announced.
