Ericsson and Serbian operator Mobtel have signed a contract valued at more than $105 million to expand and enhance Mobtel’s GSM 900/1800 network.
Ericsson will act as sole supplier to provide equipment, software and services in the expansion.
According to Ericsson, implementation will begin immediately, and when completed in 12 months will allow Mobtel to offer their customers advanced services, including MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service).
Ericsson will provide expanded core network, radio and microwave infrastructure, GPRS packet switching technology, MPS (Mobile Positioning System) and enhanced Mobile Internet functionality.
Capacity in the network is expected to rise two million subscribers.
