Even PLCs are using Windows CE

LaMonde Research recently announced a Windows CE based PLC. Dubbed WinPLC, the PLC control platform is a module that fits into the CPU slot of the company’s DL205 series backplane and includes backplane access to I/O, nonvolatile program and data memories and built in Ethernet and serial ports.

The platform, priced at £336 is available with a Software Developer’s Kit for custom application development. The first application available pre-loaded on the WinPLC is PLCDirect’s Think and Do PC control software; list price of the module with a Think and Do run-time kernel is £589.
