Explosive option for ATK

ATK has been awarded a production option worth $17 million for the DSU-33B/B precision proximity sensor, a device that initiates the detonation of air-delivered ordnance.

ATK (Alliant Techsystems) has been awarded a production option valued at $17 million for the DSU-33B/B precision proximity sensor, which is used in the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) and other air-delivered ordnance.

The option is the second awarded under a basic production contract that could be worth approximately $75 million by the end of 2008 if all options are exercised. The award brings the total value of orders received for the DSU-33B/B sensor to $34 million in 2003.

The DSU-33B/B Proximity Sensor is a single-mission all-weather, battery operated device capable of operating in an electronic countermeasure environment. The sensor initiates detonation above the ground, increasing the effectiveness of airborne ordnance and can be delivered from low and high altitudes.

ATK Ordnance and Ground Systems is producing the DSU-33B/B sensor at its production facilities in the US.
