The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category has been awarded to Grantham manufacturing company, BGB Engineering.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category has been awarded to Grantham manufacturing company, BGB Engineering.

The award is in commendation of the company's ability to maintain export figures of more than 90 per cent of turnover year after year.

BGB Engineering designs and manufactures electrical slip-ring assemblies and lightning protection for rotary applications, underwater lighting and camera systems, and wireless Ethernet bridge systems for the transmission of high-speed data or video links.

The slip-ring systems in particular have wide-ranging applications in wind turbines.

The company has won the award for the first time for increasing its export earnings in excess of 100 per cent over three years to nearly £12m per annum.

David T Holt, managing director of BGB Engineering, said: 'We have been increasing global exports at an unprecedented rate for the last four years, and it is very satisfying to be recognised at the highest level –  Her Majesty the Queen –  for the efforts of all our staff.'
