Farnborough-aircraft.com describes itself as ‘the world’s first internet-oriented aircraft design and build house’. Exploiting recent changes in Air Transport Regulations, FAC is aiming to certify an all-composite 6-seater single engine air taxi (the Farnborough F1) in record time, and to do so via the Web. Says Richard Noble, OBE, Chief Executive Officer of FAC, ‘we must stimulate every type of behaviour electronically before any physical prototypes are built. MSC Software’s web strategy coupled with the industry-accepted accuracy of its simulation tools made MSC a natural partner in this challenging project’. The project will be backed by private venture capital, provided in part by FAC’s supporters club, the Farnborough Airforce.
‘The supply of MSC Software products to Farnborough-Aircraft.com is typical of the high quality and innovative use of simulation technology now becoming increasingly commonplace amongst our customers’ said Tony Kent, MSC Software Business Development Manager for the UK. ‘The high level of dependence on numerical simulation for the composite construction and in particular the extensive use of the Internet by the FAC team ideally compliment our own strategies for the future of simulation technology. We are delighted to be associated with the project and wish the Farnborough team and the F1 every success.’
