Fighting crime on three wheels

The long arm of the law could soon be getting a three-wheeled, battery-operated boost to help beat crime, so long as no criminals escape at faster than 25mph.

The T3 Series electric one-person vehicle was recently launched at the 113th annual International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) convention. The three-wheeled stand-on upright vehicle is now available to law enforcement agencies across the US.

Its manufacturer T3 Motion claims the T3 Series is cost effective and environmentally friendly, powered by two individually removable, rechargeable, lightweight batteries for around 5p per day.

It features a zero degree turning radius, reaches speeds of up to 25mph and is easily manoeuvrable. It has a 20cm raised platform which offers the officer who drives it from a standing position a superior vantage point. T3 Motion claims it is proven to dramatically improve police response time and reduce physical fatigue in police officers.

Future developments include a trailer and detachable storage pack.
