Gammon awarded terminal construction contract

Gammon Construction, a Hong Kong-based contractor in which Balfour Beatty has a 50 per cent shareholding, has won a HKD4.2bn (£351m) air-cargo terminal construction contract from Cathay Pacific Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, as part of a joint venture with Hong Kong-based contractor Hip Hing Construction.

The contract for the terminal at Hong Kong International Airport, Chek Lap Kok, will engage a workforce of more than 1,000 at the peak of the project’s construction period.

The terminal, which will measure approximately 280,000m2, is scheduled for completion in 2013.
