Going flat out for optimum design

Ansys has announced a performance partner agreement with Dorset-based Penske Cars, which races Championship Cars in the Federal Express World Series.

Penske’s engineers are using Ansys design analysis and optimisation software, together with Ansys Connection for CADDS, in the development of its 1998, 1999 and year 2000 series of race cars. The software was provided by Integrated Design and Analysis Consultants, who also provide a full consultancy and support service to Penske.

Brian Butcher, managing director of Ansys’ European Operations, comments: `We are delighted to have formed this partnership with Penske. The Penske team are now using Ansys as an integral part of their new product process.

`Given the extremely competitive world of automotive racing, and the short window of development between racing seasons, Penske implemented Ansys technology to meet their stringent design requirements and production schedules.’
