Gordon Murray chooses BOTT

Fledgling automotive design company Gordon Murray Design has chosen Bude, Cornwall-based Bott to supply workshop and storage equipment.

The new company, led by Gordon Murray, who has previously been responsible for Brabham and McLaren racing cars, aims to provide innovative design solutions for cars of the future.

The company is currently working on the T25, a lightweight, environmentally friendly and economical car aimed at first-time buyers, city dwellers, commuters, hire car fleets and second-car buyers.

Instead of employing a hybrid or electric powertrain, the T25 will make its fuel savings through weighing around 400kg less than similarly sized vehicles.

It will be made from high-tech materials, and Murray promises ‘innovative architecture and packaging which will facilitate low-cost manufacturing and drastically reduce running costs.’

The workshop equipment installed by Bott will be used to store the essential tools used in the production of a prototype car, as well as providing a clean and ergonomic workplace.

Gordon Murray said: ‘I have assembled a team of the most highly qualified and experienced people in the automotive design industry. Engineers of this calibre demand and deserve the very best, so Bott was the obvious choice for us.’

The first prototype T25 cars will be running within two years and the design will be sold or licensed to a major manufacturer to be built in large volumes.
