Grease pockets are linear motion’s secret

Unimatic’s SSR LM linear motion guide features special retainers between the bearings to eliminate friction between adjacent balls. The retainer contains a grease pocket that circulates with the balls. Because the balls do not come into contact with each other, the guide runs smoothly without metallic sounds, providing low running noise levels – for example around 48dB at speeds of 100m/min.

Eliminating ball-to-ball contact also results in less wear, whilst the grease retention characteristics of the retainer deliver long-term maintenance-free operation.
