Harris Corporation announced today that it has been awarded $10 million by the Turkish Ministry of Defence and $5.8 million by the Slovenian Ministry of Defence to supply Falcon II radios.
Under the terms of the Turkish contract, the Falcon II delivery will include Harris RF-5800H-MP radios. The RF-5800H-MP is a high-frequency (HF)-SSB/VHF-FM manpack (MP) radio that provides tactical communications through enhanced secure voice and data performance.
The data capability and optional network management features of the RF- 5800H-MP reportedly utilise industry standard IP-based protocols to provide fast, simple, and direct communications, and permit easy set-up and maintenance of tactical networks.
Under the terms of the Slovenian contract, Harris will provide RF-5800V-HH very high-frequency (VHF) and RF-5800M-HH multiband handheld radios.
The RF-5800V-HH is a small, lightweight VHF handheld that is said to extend the performance of the Falcon II tactical radio family to the squad level. It is compatible with the RF-5800V-MP and other Falcon II radios.
‘NATO and PfP (Partnership for Peace) countries have had great success using Falcon II radios and this contract further extends our success within that international community,’ commented Dana Mehnert, vice president, international operations, Harris RF Communications Division.
