Hoisting production

A growing order book has led crane and hoist specialists, Street Crane, to expand its Chapel-en-le-Frith facilities in Derbyshire.

The company has invested around £750,000 into the site to increase production by approximately 30 per cent. The expansion includes larger despatch facilities, machine shops and hoist works in order to improve production efficiency.

Storage capacity for CNC machines in the main factory has also been extended and plans are being put in place to transfer hoist production and testing to a new facility.

According to Street Crane, the expansion programme will create around 20 jobs, many of which will be for design engineers.

Managing director, Andrew Pimblett, said: ‘Lean production has been a way of life at Street Crane for many years. From a constrained site we have been able to produce up to 400 cranes per year and over 2,000 hoists. The new facilities will permit better workflow and boost productivity at a time when we are experiencing exceptional levels of interest worldwide in our factory cranes, hoists and crane components.’
