Hydrostatics controls loaders

JCB can now offer complete operator control in its range of loading shovels, thanks to the adoption of a hydrostatic drive line system developed by Sauer-Sundstrand. The first systems employed by JCB are based around the Series 90 hydrostatic axial piston pump coupled with a Series 51D bent axis motor, which gives variable displacement of up to 55cc for the transmission pump unit and 110cc for the motor output.

The advantages of a hydrostatic transmission include the ability to shuttle under full load without incurring any transmission wear, controlled rate of acceleration and deceleration and protection against overheating when stalled and under load.

The major benefit of the new system is that the operator can maintain control using a single pedal that controls the variable hydrostatic transmission.
