Imec and Tokyo Electron set to carry out STT-MRAM research

Imec, a nanoelectronics research centre in Belgium, and Tokyo Electron, a supplier of semiconductor production equipment, are to collaborate on advanced spin-transfer torque magnetoresistive random access memory (STT-MRAM) research and development (R&D).

The research will be carried out as part of Imec’s R&D programme on emerging memory technologies.

The collaboration is said to be an excellent opportunity for Toyko Electron to accelerate the development of its next-generation etch tools for high-density emerging memory technologies.

As part of the collaboration, Tokyo Electron’s Tactras etch tool has been installed in Imec’s 300mm clean room.
