Improving engine efficiency

Warrington diesel and gas engine consultant engineers Technomot have received a grant to design more efficient diesel engines.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency awarded the funding to Technomot to reduce the emissions from its engines. The company specialises in large, heavy-duty engines, as large as four hundred litres, which typically power trains, ships and generator sets.

Some of these applications burn huge quantities of fuel – a fast ferry can consume 113 litres over a single kilometre. In this context small improvements in engine efficiency can deliver huge cost and environmental benefits.

Technomot has plans to introduce a series of innovations to breathe new life into diesel technology by introducing a number of fuel consumption reducing measures.
