Communicators: Sir Robert Walmsley, chief of defence procurement (left) with Dr Alan Rudge, BT’s deputy chief executive, signing the contract for the £800m 10-year Defence Fixed Telecommunications Service contract, which will provide a modern telecoms service for the armed forces. The BT-led Inca consortium was selected as preferred supplier last October but signing the contract was held up because of additions to the specifications required by the MoD. The Inca team includes Lockheed Martin, GEC Marconi Secure Systems and GPT Strategic Communications.
