Ever needed to know more about pressure measurement and not known where to look? The Government approached the issue with the appearance last year of the DTI funded publication `Guide to the Measurement of Pressure and Vacuum’.

The Guide was produced by the National Physical Laboratory and the Institute of Measurement and Control using an independent panel of experts; it covers all aspects of pressure measurement in an attempt to standardise terminologies and definitions and to spread good measurement practices in industry. Advice is given to represent conventional good practice in pressure measurement, to be consistent with recognised standard specifications and to be free from commercial bias.

The guide covers topics such as concepts, terms and definitions; measurement methodologies; the different types of pressure and vacuum measuring devices; how to select a suitable measuring device; calibration, traceability and measurement standards; practical recommendations and a comprehensive set of example calculations.
