A semi-anechoic chamber at vehicle transmissions company Ricardo-FFD in Coventry meets motor industry demands for accurate and repeatable noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) testing. Installed by the Noise Control Centre, Melton Mowbray, the chamber is in a building fitted with specially designed high-performance acoustic panels on the ceiling and walls. The panels are made from sound-absorbing polyurethane foam wedges 400mm long to provide a cut-off frequency of 250Hz in accordance with BS4196:Part 5. Graphite in the foam makes it fire resistant.
