A wrangle over workshare between BAE Systems and the other Airbus partners may explain why the Airbus A3XX `super jumbo’ was not launched as expected at last week’s Berlin air show. BAE’s partners, which control 80% of the airliner consortium, also appeared to be dragging their heels over the creation of a fully integrated company, which would let Airbus operate as a private company instead of the present loose consortium. But there was some good news for Airbus, as Virgin Atlantic said it is interested in becoming a launch customer for the A3XX.
