A second team has been formed to chase a £3bn Anglo-American requirement for armoured reconnaissance vehicles.

Britain’s GEC and GKN have teamed up with Texas Instruments and United Defense in the US to form the Lancer team chasing the British Tracer and the US Future Scout and Cavalry Vehicle requirements.

Another Anglo-US team linking prime contractors British Aerospace and Lockheed Martin, plus subcontractors Vickers, Alvis and General Dynamics, was formed last month.

Britain and the US are expected to endorse the joint programme soon.
