British Steel’s ironmaking department at Teesside has chosen SKF condition monitoring instruments to improve the reliability and predict maintenance needs of vital rotating machinery.

Microlog, and Prism4 software are being used to help prevent machine failure, which could cost up to £30,000 an hour in lost production. The equipment is used to safeguard effluent pumps in coke ovens, blast furnace combustion fans and belt conveyors.
