ABB, for the first time, has been named on the fourth annual list of IndustryWeek’s 100 best managed companies. The companies were selected from a list of the world’s largest publicly held manufacturing companies, based on revenues.

An order has been placed by A.P. Moller of Denmark for a simplex dynamic positioning system from Alstom Drives & Controls. Alstom will supply and commission its DPS901 system for the offshore support vessel, `Maersk Promoter’.

Fibox, the enclosures specialist, has recently formed a business partnership with the Derbyshire based electrical component distributor, Thames Electrical Controls(TEC). A strategic alliance for both companies, they offer established engineering expertise and product knowledge.

Racal Instruments and Huntron Instruments have formed a distribution agreement covering Huntron’s diagnostic troubleshooting test and robotic probe technology for the UK and Eire.

Whatman (MaidstoneUK) has signed an agreement worth £3.5 million to supply nitrogen generation membrane systems to BOC. The company will provide a higher purity nitrogen generation to meet BOC customer requirements.

Thurlby Thandar Instruments (TTi) have acquired the test and measurements business of Black Star from Prima Electronic Services. Black Star’s range includes frequency counters, function generators, test equipment and probes.

Echelon Corporation, the Lonworks company, has announced financial results for the 3 and 6 month periods ending June 1999 which exceeded expectations. Revenues for the six month period were up 12.6% to $18.6 million.
